There are 3 grant options


Free Energy Upgrade

This is fully funded by SEAI and all home upgrade costs are covered

This scheme is available to homes which meet the following criteria:

  • You must own and live in your own home
  • Your home was built and occupied before 2006
  • You receive one of the following welfare payments:
    1. Fuel Allowance as part of the National Fuel Scheme.
    2. Job Seekers Allowance for over six months and have a child under seven years of age
    3. Working Family Payment
    4. One-Parent Family Payment
    5. Domiciliary Care Allowance
    6. Carers Allowance and live with the person you are caring for
  • You have not previously received works under the scheme

The service involves the installation of standard energy efficiency measures appropriate to the eligible household subject to SEAI survey, budget allocation and available capacity. The service is provided at no cost to the household and the measures currently available under this scheme are:

  • Attic insulation
  • Cavity wall insulation
  • External wall insulation
  • Internal wall insulation
  • Secondary work such as lagging jackets, draught proofing and energy efficient lighting
  • New heating systems and windows are occasionally recommended

How to apply

  1. Read the Scheme and Application Guidelines
  2. Complete the Application Form. (If you are applying for this scheme and in receipt of the Carers allowance then you also need to fill out the Carers Allowance Confirmation Form.)
  3. Have the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP) complete the relevant section of the application form

One Stop Shop Service

This is part funded with SEAI grants and approximately a half of the cost for a typical family home

For homeowners and landlords who want:

  • multiple energy upgrades
  • to upgrade to a minimum B2 BER
  • a fully managed solution including grant applications
  • to pay for the works net of eligible grant

For homes built and occupied before:

  • 2011 for insulation and heating controls
  • 2011 for renewable systems
  • All homes must complete a minimum level of energy upgrades and achieve a minimum BER rating of B2

Individual Energy Upgrade Grants

This is part funded with SEAI grants and up to 80% of the cost of the upgrade for a typical family home

For homeowners and landlords who want:

  • individual energy upgrades
  • to manage their own project
  • to apply for the grant themselves
  • to pay for full cost of works and claim grants afterwards

For homes built and occupied before:

  • 2011 for insulation and heating controls
  • 2021 for heat pumps and renewable systems

How to apply

Online

To apply online you will need the MPRN number from your electricity bill and the name of your contractor from the SEAI register. Your application should be approved within minutes.
